The concept

In close cooperation with "WAVE Catamarans" and numerous industry partners and sponsors, the "VRK bespoke" was developed as a futuristic-modern designed prototype of the new 60-foot sailing catamaran series "WAVE 60" and is "under construction" in the shipyard in Szczecin, Poland since October 2022.
Platform for industry partners
The "VRK bespoke" was designed to provide a platform for interested industry partners to present innovative systems and products, even if they have never been used on a yacht before. A special focus was also placed on the central networking of the systems used on board, which led to the concept of a "smart yacht".
"The Wave 60"
In the run-up to the construction of this new first prototype of the new " WAVE 60 " series, two smaller sister ships have already been built in this new design: the WAVE 50 " SARA " and the " WAVE ", on which some of these systems have already been used and tested in advance. On these two smaller " WAVE 50 " sister ships, the basics were worked out, on the basis of which this first " WAVE 60 " was now designed and realised as a sustainable 0-emission and energy-autonomous e.sailing catamaran yacht.
Large usable and living space
Compared to monohulls, catamarans (multihulls) have a much shallower draught and a much smaller displacement in the length-to-volume ratio and thus also offer a much larger usable and living space, on their interconnected double hulls. Due to the lower water resistance, this twin-hull design is predestined for a low-energy concept. This design also offers maximum usable space in relation to the total hull length.
For this purpose, a new spatial concept was developed, in which a classic separate outdoor area with dining and lounge area at the stern of the yacht was dispensed with. Instead, the main saloon was enlarged to the maximum with a generous front lounge and dining area and opened to the rear, and an exceptionally large lateral galley (galley) with central bar island was realised.
In addition, a front cockpit shaded by a rigid awning roof with a separate lounge area and a small front galley was designed in the front exterior area.
In addition to the helm station, the flybridge also has a very large lounge and dining area with two tables that can be lowered into the floor. The roof above (convertible hard-top bimini) can also be opened. A built-in beamer and a large roll-up screen turn this into an open-air cinema area.
Sail handling
Sail handling has been centralised and simplified on the flybridge to the extent that it can be efficiently handled by a single person via electric furling systems: even the mainsail has a furling boom system and can be automatically unfurled and furled, as well as continuously reefed.
Security
Safety on board was also the focus of this project: when it comes to the safety of people and the ship, only the best systems available on the market are good enough: on the one hand, with the innovative anchor system from " UltraMarine " and, on the other hand, with the integrated " U-SAFE " rescue system from NORAS and a newly developed central permanent electronic " people-on-board " AI monitoring system, new standards are set on board the " VRK bespoke " with regard to the safety aspect on private yachts.
Cabins and sails
The sizes of the only 4 cabins on this 60-foot (18.38-metre) long and 31-foot (9.45-metre) wide e.sailing catamaran were maximised so that two extremely generously designed suites could be realised in the forward areas of the two hulls, as well as two additional comfortable cabins in the two aft areas. All cabins have spacious bathrooms. However, the hull design still focused on sailing performance, which resulted in a calculated sailing performance of more than 20 knots. Both smaller sister ships from the "WAVE 60" series have clearly exceeded this calculated sailing performance under real sailing conditions with more than 25 knots.
Water supply
In addition to autonomous energy generation through a combination of solar, wind, hydro, electric and hydrogen-based fusion cell generators, an autonomous fresh water supply of very high quality has also been realised in cooperation with leading industrial partners in these fields and the Technical University of Gdansk/Poland: Not only is the service water produced autonomously in a CO2- and energy-neutral way by means of two desalination plants from " HP-Watermaker ", each capable of 240 l/h, but also the drinking water is produced in optimal mineral water quality with the treatment, sterilisation and remineralisation systems from " Blue Pura " on board, making the purchase of water bottles and canisters completely unnecessary. In the steam shower cabins, which were realised with "repaBAD" as an industrial partner, both water and energy are again significantly saved: and as a side effect, a wellness oasis is created in the cabins.
Show Boat
The " VRK bespoke " will be used in the first 3 years primarily as a show boat for presentations at yachting festivals, boat shows and events and will also serve to present to interested parties both this new e.sailing catamaran yacht concept, as well as the systems installed on it: as a realised concept to touch and experience.
The " VRK bespoke " is not available for charter - but guests are welcome on board: Please send enquiries to sailing@VRKbespoke.com

Energy concept
The " VRK bespoke " has an energy concept that has never before been used in this form on a sailing catamaran and has the following energy systems on board:
1. solar panels ( 5.5 kWh)
2. two vertical wind generators (2 x 270 W= 0.54 KWh)
3. a hydrogen fusion cell generator (9 kWh)
4. two hydro generators (2 x 23 hp/ 2 x 17.5 kWh)
5. two electric motor drives/generators (2 x 23 hp/ 2 x 17.5 kWh)
6. two plug-in hybrid diesel engines/generators (2 x 110 hp/ 2 x 80 kWh) as " back-up ".

"WAVE Catamarans" is a family business and a boutique shipyard that builds high-quality sailing catamarans for private owners with great craftsmanship and technical skills. Until 2019, "WAVE Catamarans" built sailing catamarans exclusively for family members and friends individually tailored to their specific needs, before the private shipyard opened to a wider audience in 2020.
A visit on board one of their yachts reveals both the modern-futuristic design and the quality of the manufacturing and attention to detail.
The energy concepts and technical innovations used in the construction and equipment were developed and realised in close cooperation with the Technical University of Gdansk/Poland and leading partners from research and industry.
